Project Engineer

AGCO-Amity JV, LLC is accepting applications for a talented Project Engineer to join our tillage and seeding team.  We offer an exciting career in a team environment, where you solve complex and challenging problems for farmers worldwide through innovative product solutions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design, prototype build, and test of agricultural equipment
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills within a cross functional team, as well as good problem-solving and analytical techniques
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and bring them to completion
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Proficient with Creo(Pro/E) CAD software

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements and maintains new and existing products. Assists in determining design approach and parameters to move products into production.
  • Additional responsibilities will include product updates, product structure maintenance, internal and customer product technical support.
  • Creates prototypes for beta testing and for customer demonstration to ensure feasibility of product.
  • Leads in reviewing vendor capability to support product development and makes recommendations on product specifications and component selection.
  • Researches new technology or products to recommend and/or introduce modifications and/or advances to current systems, products and methods.
  • Maintain documentation associated with engineering change orders, bills of material, detailed CAD models and associated component drawings

Preferred Experience 

  • Planter, Sprayer and Tillage equipment design.
  • Experience with data collection systems for use in strain gage testing.
  • Working in or managing a cross functional design team.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of modern farming practices.
  • Understanding the application of electronics on modern farm machinery, control modules, guidance systems, variable rate seeding and fertilizer application.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis.

Engineering Manager

AGCO-Amity JV, LLC is accepting applications for a results-driven Engineering Manager to join our tillage and seeding leadership team.  Reporting to the CEO, the Engineering Manager is an integral part of the AGCO-Amity JV, LLC leadership team and is responsible for leading the technical design and development of new and improved seeding and tillage equipment.  We offer an exciting career in a team environment, where you solve complex and challenging problems for farmers worldwide through innovative product solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the design, prototype build, and test of agricultural equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and projects using a formal stage gate product development process.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills within a cross functional team, as well as good problem-solving and analytical techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and bring them to completion
  • General business analysis expertise to correctly assess the value added to the company in the prioritization of the multiple conflicting priorities to be optimized (ie cost vs performance, quality vs time to market, profitability vs initial investments, cost reduction vs. business stability, etc)
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets and manage business decisions within budget parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and development of new and improved seeding and tillage equipment ensuring that all critical customer and compliance requirements are met.
  • Lead a department of 10-15 engineers and technicians that designs, develops, and launches new and improved seeding and tillage equipment, systems, and features into production.
  • Manage and grow department personnel capabilities, including goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Oversee prototype builds and validation testing to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure projects deliver expected levels of Quality, Safety, Performance, Reliability, and Cost using appropriate analysis and testing tools by predictable Validation & Verification programs.
  • Assists in determining design approach and parameters to provide innovative product solutions.
  • Ensure the achievement of Product Program objectives through stage gate product development process (AMPIP) delivering defined program objectives.
  • Lead the engineering responsibilities for product updates, product structure maintenance, internal and customer product technical support.
  • Champion the Engineering Change Process and New Product Design Reviews, ensuring cross functional participation and input. Provide status updates and reports to the OPC and other functional leaders as required.
  • Maintain documentation associated with engineering change orders, bills of material, detailed CAD models and associated component drawings.
  • Plan, establish, track, analyze, and proactively manage department and project budgets, project schedules and product cost.
  • Researches new technology or products to recommend and/or introduce modifications and/or advances to current systems, products and methods.
  • Drive continual improvement in product development and engineering processes, leveraging both internal and external resources.
  • Work with sales, marketing and product management to develop and execute product strategy roadmap.

 Preferred Experience 

  • Air Seeding, Tillage, and Planter equipment design.
  • Experience with industry-leading engineering methodologies, including but not limited to validation testing, data collection systems, Finite Element Analysis
  • Understanding of the agricultural equipment industry and modern farming practices.
  • Understanding the application of electronics on modern farm machinery, control modules, guidance systems, variable rate seeding and fertilizer application.
  • Well-developed leadership skills including the ability to persuade and influence others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey strategies, processes/approaches to a variety of internal audiences.
  • Ability to address and resolve issues in an objective, fact-based, professional fashion.
  • Ability to inspire confidence in project sponsors, owners and participants.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence within the team, with a high level of discretion.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Requires sustained mental effort related to a production environment, and organizational and technical issues.
  • Work is performed within an office setting and within a warehouse/industrial setting.
  • Noise levels vary however there is no continuous exposure to hazardous noise levels.
  • 20-30% domestic and international travel.
